We’ve all heard someone say it: “We can’t afford marketing for our business.”
The fact of the matter is, you can’t afford not to market your business. If cash flow is an issue, there are still things you can do to help market your business even if you can’t afford marketing.
Have you filled in your business info at Google Places for Business?
How about Bing Places for Business?
Is your business registered in all applicable places like Yelp, UrbanSpoon, Trip Advisor, FourSquare, Facebook, FoodSpotting, Twitter, YP.com and LinkedIn?
Registering is just a first step. Each of these sites will require regular attention. Investing 5-10 minutes on each site every few days gives you enough time to answer questions, comment on reviews and post engaging content.
Remember that these sites are all about attracting and engaging interested parties. Even if you can’t afford marketing, you can and should invest in the time required here.
Marketing needs to be an ongoing effort to be effective. But if you can’t afford the time to market your business, how will your situation ever improve?
